Our Company
Phat Web Services Limited was established and commenced trading in 2000 - just as the .com 'boom' started and
has weathered the storm ever since! In 2008 we de-registered from being a limited company to keep costs down, which
also suited our small business and it's approach and has freed up more time for work on projects as opposed to the extra related
administration.
Over the years people very rarely ever used the full PWSL title, opting for the easier 'Phatweb',
so it made sense to economise on the title as well and Phatweb stuck!
Over the years as you can imagine a good client base has been built up, with 98% retention over the 9 years of trading
- not bad considering the current climate we're sure you'll agree.
Phatweb caters for a lot of local business in the Dumfries & Galloway Region, as well as
for national and international clients. Due to good word of mouth we now also have a solid network in the charity and
voluntary based orginisations, mainly due to having never increased prices... ever - coupled with discounts and special
offers for these orginisations and existing clients makes us the obvious choice.
"What's the deal with the 'Phat' prefixed names?!"
The term 'Phat' is an 'Americanisation', for 'cool', 'sweet',
'kickin' etc. For instance, "That was a Phat tune!" - It stemmed from the Director of Phatweb username
for e-mail and ISP accounts, which was 'PhatGaf'. As many people know, who have tried to get an account name of any sort over
the Internet; the username you choose initially is always taken!! Therefore, throw 'Phat' in front... no problem!. The other
main reason for the name is for identity.

Our Business Philosophy
Phatweb has always been about getting people and businesses on-line, almost like a silent partner.
By its nature each new project involves us in the associated service/industry, especially when gathering content for a new
website, one can't help but get immersed in the subject and ultimately we can tailor solutions more efficiently and in most
cases adjusting the client brief as the project progresses.
Phatweb specialise in basic, simple designs initially which can then be added to and developed
as the business (and its budget!) grows. Too many local businesses for instance have suffered at the hands of other
developers by being crippled by the start up costs of an all singing, all dancing media rich, dynamic website which rarely
gets visitors, thus bringing in little or no money. Phatweb prefers to grow each solution
in line with the clients requirements and not sell services which will not get used.
Phatweb emphasise selling a high-quality product and servicing customers in a professional
and efficient manner. We only partner with reputable manufacturers and suppliers, so we have confidence in the products we
sell and services we offer.
